Chicken pox Woes and other stories.

Yes you read right, I caught chicken pox.
At my big age πŸ˜‚
And yes it caught me totally by surprise, despite being a medical student and all of that.πŸ™Ž
So lemme tell you how it happened.

A couple of weeks ago I got excited when I saw a pawpaw (or Papaya for the rest of you in the western world πŸ˜‰) in Food Lovers market and had to have it. I also picked up a bag of locally grown Zambian coffee and headed out. The next morning guess who had pawpaw for breakfast? This girl! Note that it wasn't fully ripe but since when has something like that stopped me?πŸ˜… Fast forward to nine pm that night and guess who had an "allergic reaction"? This same girl πŸ˜‚ tjo guys, was I not worried that I would become ugly?!😩 You should've seen me panic when I realised I didn't have my allergy pills (everyone with a ton of allergies has them, if you know you know), I then proceeded to wake up my mum and bother my sisters for antihistamine cream.
Fortunately I found some, lathered that stuff on like lotion and BAM! Crisis averted.πŸ’ͺπŸ˜„

Or so I thought.πŸ˜‚

Out of Christ

Happy Sunday!😁

I know I've been gone for a hot minute 😫 (on YouTube tooπŸ™ˆ), but the hiatus was definitely needed. It helped me gain perspective, learn a few truths and adjust my mindset. It also reminded me why I love to write and share my stories in the first place.

A little while ago during a very interesting interrogation πŸ˜‚ (inside joke) I was asked what my favourite hymn was. Being someone who doesn't like to be put on the spot😩, I asked my questioner to tell me theirs and why that was their particular one.
I've never been so appreciative of someone sharing something like that with me, (maybe one day I'll get them to share) and I don't think I'll ever forget it. So much so that it made me comfortable enough to open up and talk about mine.

Yes, contrary to popular belief I'm not completely extroverted. 😭 I actually have quite introverted tendencies, especially when it comes to talking about myself.

But that's a story for another day.πŸ˜…

Solo dates at hidden gems - Taste by Rootz

If you know me you'll know that I think self love is so important and that it's crucial to take time out to fill your own love tank before you can head on over to fill other people's.

So that's what I did!

While I was away: How to Study Effectively, Picmonic & almost at 20K!

Happy February lovelies!

I know I haven't checked in in a while, but I have a vlog showing all that I was up to in December coming up soon! Thank you for all the love while I was away though!! We're almost at 20K can you believe it?! I think this calls for another GIVEAWAY! I've definitely been brainstorming and I've got a couple of things up my sleeve. So can we get to 20K? What would you like to receive?

Most of my January was taken up by trying to do as much studying as I could. #MedSchoolProblems
And Picmonic has been an incredible tool that's helped me stay on track and learn so much during that time. I was originally supposed to resume lectures on the 8th, but due to a cholera outbreak in Zambia all schools from primary through to tertiary level had an extended vacation and I'm only officially starting back up on Tuesday (so the med school vlogs and the hectic schedule will be back in full swing). Wish me luck!

A couple of weeks ago, I took a poll on my instagram stories (follow me there to catch up with me on a daily basis) asking if anyone wanted to see how I study effectively and got a lot of positive feedback. So I decided to film this little video to help whoever might need it.

Do you want to know the best way to study and memorize things effectively in medical school? Then watch to see my tips, tricks, apps and all the resources I use to achieve the best results.

Resources mentioned:
Picmonic medical app
Medical Dictionary
British National Formulary (BNF)
